| Total Resource Campaign 2011: We met the challenge! |
 I continue to be in awe over how much good our Greater Waco Chamber does for the betterment of our community. For that reason, I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve as chair of the seventh annual Total Resource Campaign.
This annual campaign began in 2005 with a challenging goal of $250,000. This year, I am proud to say, we exceed our toal to raise $1.1 million. Our final total was $1,137,286. I must admit I felt a high degree of pressure following the successful leadership of previous campaign Chairs David Lacy, Terry Stevens, Scott Felton, Stewart Kelly and Debbie Keel. But, with hundreds of volunteers out in force enlisting new members and generating program, publication and event sponsorships, we succeeded!
The funds raised by this campaign have become an integral and very important part of the budget to advance our Greater Waco area through the leadership of the Chamber.
| We are very fortunate in 2011 to be led by Board Chair Don Moes, the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors, and President Jim Vaughan and his wonderful staff. They all continue to work hard to make the Greater Waco area a better place to live, work and play.
Our campaign theme this year was “Shoot for the Goal.” I chose this because it relates to basketball and the game’s extremely fast pace, which we all maintained during this campaign, and also to recognize the great joy and pride the Baylor Lady Bears continue to bring to our city. Not just community and state pride, but national acclaim and glory.
My old high school basketball coach used to lead us in a chant everyday that simply said “A hustling ball club can’t be beat.” That's the attitude that helped us to meet this challenge.
